Washburn (2 May 1974)

Farmers are busy this nice, warm, sunshiny weather working in the fields, getting ready to plant their oats. The ground works up good and some got their oats planted Friday so if weather will stay nice for a few days it won’t take long to get crops all in.

Bible Study was held at the Albert Lincoln home Thursday evening. The group had super with Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln in honor of their 38th wedding anniversary, before the meeting. Bible Study will be held at the Lyle Carty home in Sherwood tonight (Thursday).

Mrs. Ralph Short will entertain the Washburn Homemakers club Wednesday, May 8, with dinner served at noon. Mrs. William Matuszak will present the project on, “Food Preservation.”

Mrs. Ralph Schram will entertain the Cannonville Ladies Aid may 15 at her home near Alma Center. Dinner will be served at noon.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bremer took her mother, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf, and Carrie Sexton took a ride Sunday to La Crosse and other places along the Mississippi River. They called on friend, Mr. and Mr. Hary Weber, at Buffalo, near Cochrane.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg of Wisconsin Rapids entertained a large group of close relatives Saturday at their cottage near Hatfield in Honor of the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Williams, who were married in Whitewater April 20. Many from this area attended their wedding dance Friday evening, which was held at the Silver Dome.

Mr. and Mrs. William Rizner visited Tuesday evening at the Ralph Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., drove to Eau Claire Monday, where they visited a friend, Barbara Wnuczski.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barth of Nekoosa and Howard Bowen of Wisconsin Rapids visited Mrs. Art Odell last week Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer visited Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hantke Saturday evening last week.

Mrs, Bud Bremer, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf and Carried Sexton called Thursday at the Ralph Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steponic of Pray visited Sunday at the Mrs. Wanda Pretsch home.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Jim) Kapfer and mrs. Ethel Henne of West Bend arrived Thursday to visited her brothers-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and Mr. and Mrs. George Sherwood, and other relatives, and to attend the wedding dance of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Williams at Silver Dome Friday night and reception held Satruday at the Vandeberg cottage near Hatfield.

Larry Von Necton of Wausau, Mrs. William Tullis of Waukesha, Mrs. Louie Schultz and Mrs. Floyd Wall visited Mrs. Irving Stevens Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart were supper guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz at their trailer home, near Dale Reinarts’. Mr. and Mrs. Schultz returned to Wind Lake after spending since Wednesday here and attending the funeral of her brother, Martin Reinart, and the Reinart Lonning wedding Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., visited Mrs. Nettie Smock in Black River Falls last week Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Kent Lonning visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart, Thursday.

Mr. and mrs. Louie Schultz and Mrs. William Tullis of Waukesha, their house guest, were Friday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short. Mrs. Tullis spent until Sunday at the Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz of Wisconsin Rapids were supper guests Friday of his mother, Mrs. Chris Feutz. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Zdun of Pittsville called at the Feutz home, also. Mr. and Mrs. Zdun attended the wedding dance of Mr. and Mrs. Wedell Williams, also.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer called Wednesday evening at the Ralph Short home.

Mrs. Claude Kyle visited Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., Friday.
