Sowinski, Geraldine Lorraine (18 May 1929 - 21 November 2015)

Geraldine “Geri” Sowinski, 86, of Neillsville, was born to eternal life at her home Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015.

Geraldine “Geri” Lorraine Kaminski was born May 18, 1929, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Steinke) Kaminski. She was united in marriage to Norbert J. Sowinski Aug. 2, 1952, in Milwaukee. They lived most of their lives in Milwaukee but moved to Neillsville in 1997 to watch their granddaughter Julie growing up, as she was the highlight of their life and always made them smile. They were so proud of her.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed doing puzzles and playing Scrabble. She also enjoyed going for rides around the countryside and traveling out west with her husband.

She is survived by two children: Karen (Bob) Venne of Neillsville and Debbie (Tony) Hansen of Neillsville; one granddaughter, Julie Venne of Neillsville; a brother, Eugene “Gene” Kaminski of Milwaukee and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, Feb. 13, 2011; a son-in-law, Michael Emanuele; her parents; one sister, Loretta (Earl); and three brothers, Clarence, LeRoy and Gerald (Betty); and a sister-in-law, Patricia Kaminski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, the Celebrant will be Rev. Varkey V. Joseph. Music will be provided by Vicente Cortez, organist, and Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
