Carl, Art (18 November 1892 - 29 January 1974)

Art Carl, 221 Clay Street, died Tuesday evening at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital after suffering from a short illness.

Mr. Carl, 81, was born on November 18, 1892. He served as Neillsville’s mayor and was an active contractor in the area until his retirement.

Several of his buildings still dot the city’s landscape, including one now housing the Schultz Brothers Variety Store.

Mr. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Kosmosky) Carl, and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marion Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday from the Calvary Lutheran Church with burial following at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held, beginning Thursday morning from the Georgas Funeral Home.
