Gerke, Glen Edward (11 JAN 1935 - 31 AUG 2015)

Glen Edward Gerke, age 80, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015. Glen died at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living in Medford, WI, under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

A Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday September 7, 2015 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, WI, officiated by Pastor Christian Markel. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11AM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Perkinstown Cemetery with Military Honors by the Butternut American Legion post # 272.

Glen Gerke was born January 11, 1935 in Butternut, WI, the son of George and Clara (Nelson) Gerke. Glen proudly served this country in the U.S. Air Force 1952-1956 during the Korean War, and in the U.S. Navy 1959-1963. He was member of the Butternut American Legion Post #272. He married Lorranine Steinbock on June 21, 1953 in Waukesha, WI, they later divorced. On August 28, 1982 Glen married Joan (Holmes) Kalmon in Medford, WI.

Glen worked for Harley Davidson in Tomahawk, WI. He loved being in the outdoors enjoying activities as hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He also enjoyed painting. But as Glen's family knows, he was a shark when it came to playing cribbage. He will be missed by his family he loved greatly.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan of Medford, WI; his daughter; Teri Ann (Ray) Pender of Kettle River, MN; 5 Grandchildren; 17 Step-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Step-Great-Grandchildren, and a sister; Arlene (Charlie) Bablick of Park Falls, WI.

Glen is preceded in death by his twin sister; Jeanie Gerke, his brother; Clayton Gerke, and his great-nephew, Chad.
