Marks, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Golden – 14 November 1985)

Albert and Mary Marks of Neillsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 9 at the Moonlite Inn, Neillsville. A reception was held followed by a program. Dinner was served at 5 p.m.

They were married November 14, 1935, by the Rev. William Bauman in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church-parsonage, Neillsville. Original attendants at the marriage, Bill and Florence Kopp of Cambridge, were also present at the celebration.

Marks was born January 6, 1906, in Poland. He came to the United States with his mother when he was five-years old and settled in Clark County. His parents were Amedia Marks and his step-father Ferd Kopp. He attended Pine Valley School, Neillsville.

The former Mary Uran was born September 23, 1913, in Princeton, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Clara Uran. She attended Benton County schools in Santigo, Minnesota. Before her marriage, she did hotel and waitress work.

They have one son, Richard, of Neillsville. A son, Marvin, died July 6, 1952.

Life-long Neillsville residents, Marks worked at Neillsville Milk Products for 32 years, Marshfield Homes and for the City of Neillsville, where he is still employed part-time. He was also a member of the Neillsville Fire Department for 20 years. Marks is an avid gardener, Hunter and fisherman. The couple also sold bait for 19 years. They are members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville.

Jorgensen, Christi Ann (21 September 1985)

Christi Ann Jorgensen and Donald B. Mrotek were united in marriage Saturday, September 21, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward. Pastors James Magelssen and David Bauer officiated at the 6 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Sigrund Jorgensen, Port Isabel, Texas; and the late Carl Jorgensen, and the son of Duane Mrotek, Hayward, and Patricia Mrotek, Neillsville.

Carol Mittlesdorf of Hayward attended as matron of honor, and Dave Aubart, Hayward, attended as bestman. Bridesmaids were Kari and Debbi Mittlesdorf and Dianne Mrotek, all of Hayward, and Lisa Narveson, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Groomsmen were Doug and Dale Mrotek and Kevin Nemitz, all of Hayward and Darrel Mrotek, Branson, Missouri. Scott Jorgensen, Hayward, and Robert Major, Minnetonka, Minnesota, seated the wedding guests.

Karen Andersen provided organ music and accompanied vocalists Kari and Debbi Mittlesdorf to the songs “Hello,” “The Wedding Song,” and “Through the Eyes of Love.”

Following the ceremony, the couple was taken by horse and buggy to a reception held at the Hayward Bowl.

The bride is a graduate of Port Isabel (Texas) High School and attended Texas A&M University. The groom, a graduate of Hayward High School, is employed by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department. After a honeymoon in Branson, Missouri, they are at home at 312 Iowa Avenue, Hayward.

Montgomery, Cynthia Lou (16 November 1985)

Cynthia Lou Montgomery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving H. Montgomery, Neillsville, and Donald James Swartz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swartz, Rt. 2 Bloomer, exchanged marriage vows November 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley.

Msgr. James P. Finucan performed the double ring nuptial ceremony at 2:00 p.m. before an altar graced by pink silk flowers. The organist, Martha Libersky, and soloist, Patrick Hogan, supplied the wedding music.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a floor length Victorian gown of white taffeta covered with lace and accented with deep lace ruffles at the bodice and skirt hemline. Her matching shoulder length veil of illusion net and lace was attached to a lace and pearl headpiece. Her bridal bouquet was a silk flower arrangement of two pink roses, azaleas and white carnations tied with white satin ribbons. For jewelry, she wore pearl earrings and a double pearl necklace.

Karen Allezchaski, Marshfield, attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s sister, Sandra De La Cruz, Marshfield; Doris Gassen, sister of the groom, and friends of the bride, Kathy Steinmetz and Virginia Schindler, all of bloomer.

The attendants wore identical floor length dusty rose gowns styled with a tiered bodice and petal sleeves. They wore silk hairpieces and carried pink and white silk flower bouquets.

The groom chose a friend, Daniel Fuiten, Bloomer, for his bestman. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers, Lewis Swartz, Chippewa Falls, Ronald Swartz, Colfax, and friends, Wayne Boos, Eau Claire, and Richard Schindler, Bloomer. The ushers were Bill Swartz, brother of the groom, Bloomer, and a friend of the groom, Gordie Sykora, Colfax.

The Pines Ballroom was decorated with pink and white streamers and white tissue bells for the reception held following the ceremony and attended by 350 guests. The reception servers were Jenny Conrad, Melissa Kollwitz, Erin Hassemer, Lynette Prince and Sara Prince.

Mr. and Mrs. Swartz took a wedding trip to Florida. The couple is residing on Route 1, Bloomer.

Nicholson, Ramona (5 October 1985)

Following their wedding trip to Madeleine Island, newlyweds Scott and Ramona (Nicholson) Worden are residing at Route 1, Bloomer, Wisconsin.

Parents of the couple are Darlene Nicholson of Eau Claire, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Worden, Greenwood.

Rev. David Veum and Rev. Warren Wore, uncle of the groom, officiated at the late afternoon wedding ceremony held Saturday, October 5, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, Eau Claire. Musical accompaniment for the service was provided by organist Orvella Bystol and vocalists Bob Olson and Gail Worden. Escorted to the altar by her uncle, Marvin Sommerfeldt, the bride wore a while gown with satin skirt, lace bodice, and pearl-trimmed long sleeves. Her matching veil was edged with lace and pearls. She carried a while lace fan decorate with pink, white, and burgundy roses, pink forget-me-nots, and pink lilies accented with pink and white streamers.

Sister of the bride, Rhonda Nicholson was maid of honor. Mrs. Joan Bartz, of Tigerton, was bridesmaid. The groom’s niece, Kelly Lindner, was flower girl. Each bridal attendant was attired in a ruby satin gown featuring a mock wrap bodice with matching long sleeved jacket. Their bouquets matched that of the bride.

Bestman was Taree Worden, brother of the bride, from Green Bay. Groomsman was Charles Lindner, Greenwood, and ring bearer was Matthew Nicholson, of Eau Claire, a nephew of the bride. Guests were escorted into the church by ushers Steve Wall, Rick Nicholson, Tim Sommerfeldt and Mark Mertens.

A reception and dinner in the fellowship hall of the church followed the ceremony.

The bride attended UW-Eau Claire. A graduate of District One Technical School, Eau Claire, the groom is employed at Toycen Motors, Bloomer, as a diesel and auto mechanic.

Thompkins, Kathryn Ann (28 September 1985)

Brian Gregory Kieser and Kathryn Ann Tompkins became husband and wife during an early evening ceremony, September 28, at Union Congregational Church, Green Bay. Rev. John J. Staton officiated, and music was provided by H. Thomas Hurley and Cheryl Fleming. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James Tompkins, DePere, and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kieser, Neillsville.

The bride wearing a white satin gown, was preceded to the altar by attendants wearing coral taffeta dresses. Matron of honor was Kris Leedom, Saginaw, Michigan, and Kelly Everard of Green Bay, was bridesmaid.

Attired in a cutaway tuxedo, the groom was attended by bestman, David Appleyard, of Neillsville, and groomsman James Wiesender of Berlin. Escorting wedding guests into the church were ushers Doug Kieser, of Neillsville, and Michael Tompkins, of Minneapolis.

Currently, the bride attends UW-Eau Claire, and the groom is employed by the Neillsville National Guard.
