Henke, Emil (14 NOV 1891 – 1 AUG 1968)

Emil A. Henke, 76, passed away at his home on Thursday, Aug. 1st, 1968.

Funeral services were held at ten a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, Thorp on Saturday, Aug. 3rd. The High Mass of Concelebration was offered by Rev. Francis Brockman, Rev. Thomas Heskin, O.S.M. and Rev. Francis Czerwionka. Burial was in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Martin Oberle, Lawrence Weix, John Maier, Alex Soeller, Frank Schmidt and Gilbert Voelker.

Mr. Henke, a retired farmer, was born Nov. 14, 1891 at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He was united in marriage to Anna Baldeschwiler June 22, 1920 at St. Bernard's Church, Thorp. After retiring from farming in 1950 Mr. Henke was employed as custodian for Thorp Finance, and then custodian of St. Bernard's Church and School. He was a member of St. Bernard's Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, Anna; one son, Lawrence Henke of Owen; six daughters, Sister Alice Marie of Ladysmith, (Eileen) Mrs. Raymond Graham of Owen; (Ruth) Mrs. Warren Rose of Fargo, N.D.; (Dorothy) Mrs. John Wozniak of Stanley; Sister Dolores of St. Paul, Minn., (Marian) Mrs. Jerome Pabich of Eau Claire; two sisters, (Martha) Mrs. Henry Higholt, (Tillie) Mrs. George Schneider, and 31 grandchildren. One daughter, Marie, preceded him in death, in 1950.
