Floral arrangements of white gladiolas and red roses with lighted tapers graced the alter of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Edson (Chippewa Co.), Wis., on Saturday, June 22, 1968, when Rita Rose Schreier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Math Schreier, route 1, Stanley, became the bride of Roderick D. Urquhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Urquhart of route 2, Stanley, Wis. The double ring nuptial High Mass was performed by rev. Father Eugene Smith at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony, with Carl Gindt the organist and the Senior Choir singing. The soloist, Donald Peterson of La Crosse, cousin of the groom, sang "Ave Maria" as the wedding party entered the church, and "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother" as the bride placed a bouquet of white carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin, and the groom lit a votive light at the Altar of St. Joseph.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a full floor length bridal gown of Chantilly lace over bridal taffeta, in a boreflan silhouette fashioned with long tapered lace sleeves, with a two inch lace border, trimmed with sequins around the bateu neckline and her lace skirt of lace ruffles, which swept into a Cathedral train.

Her bouffant veil of bridal illusion billowed from a crown of bacalious crystals and Alencon lace, and she carried her father's First Communion rosary entwined in her bouquet of red roses and white carnations centered with a rosary, a gift of the groom.

Attendants to the bride, matron of honor, Mrs. William Mickett of Stanley, sister of the bride, and bridesmaids, Mrs. James Seufzer of Owen, Mrs. Peter Depa of Thorp, Wis., sisters of the bride, and Miss Mary Urquhart of Stanley, sister of the groom, were attired in green lavender, pink and yellow floor length gowns of brocade peau de soie, with round necklines and short sleeves, complemented with a plain peau de soie cummerbund with bows and streamers. These dresses were designed and made by the bride's mother and aunt, Mrs. Alfred Herman of Boyd, Wis. There headpieces of bouffant veils in harmonizing colors were held in place by a cloche of organza roses and petals. Each carried crescent shaped bouquets of pastel carnations to match their dresses, the bride's gift to her aides was a gold overlay chain and cultured pearl and hand crocheted handkerchiefs to match their gowns. The groom was attended by Roger Mathison of Thorp, a friend of the groom, who was best man, with William Mickett of Stanley and Peter Depa of Thorp, brothers-in-law of the bride, and Thomas Paul of Kenosha, Wis., a friend, as groomsmen. Serving as ushers were Eugene McManus of Stanley, brother of the groom, and James Seufzer of Owen, Wis., brother-in-law of the bride. All wore dark tuxedoes with the groom, a red boutonniere, and the attendants with white carnations. The groom's gift to his attendants were sterling silver with black onyx stone cuff links and tie tacs. The bride's gift to the groom was a black engraved rosary. The bride's mother was present in a cocoa lace and taffeta dress with which she wore white accessories. The groom's mother wore a deep pink two piece dress with white accessories and corsages of red and pink roses.

Grandmother of the groom, Mrs. Maude Urquhart of Milwaukee, Wis. was present in a light blue and white print dress, white accessories and a corsage of white cantations and red roses.

A 12:30 dinner was served at the Thorp Finance dining hall, Thorp, Wis., for about 60 guests attending after the ceremony. The reception was held at the Legion Hall at Thorp from 2 to 6 p.m. for about 375 guests, with a dance in the evening by the Jerry Willes orchestra.

Mrs. Nellie Kure baked the beautiful wedding cake, which was cut and served by the groom's Aunt, Gertrude Urquhart of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Tony Penk of Thorp, sister of the groom. Mrs. Eugene McManus of Stanley, sister-in-law of the groom, had charge of the guest book. Elaine Phillippi, friend of the bride, poured.

The bride and groom left after the dance for a two week honeymoon through Superior, Canada, Michigan and Indiana. The newlyweds will reside at the Dunlap Apartments, 304 West Wisconsin, St. Apt. 4, Chippewa Falls, Wis., after July 1st.
