Rabska, Herman (31 AUG 1919 - 4 JUL 2015)

Herman Rabska, age 95, of Owen, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2015 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Plover, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon. Military Honors provided by the Lublin American Legion Post #547, the Owen American Legion Post #123 and the Owen-Withee Vets Club. Family and friends are welcome 11:00 AM until time of service Wednesday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Herman was born on August 31, 1919 in Withee, WI, to Richard and Emma Rabska. He grew up on the farm in Withee and attended a one room school house in Spring Valley.

In 1947, he married Dorothy Marking, and they made their life in Withee. They raised four children - Karen, Michael, Gregory, and Marlene (Molly). In 2007, they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Herman was a self-employed business man, owning and operating a gravel business, logging, the Rabska Coal Company and later the Rabska Fuel Company. Herman and Dorothy were active in the Withee community and they received Citizens of the Year in 1990. Herman served as Mayor of the Village of Withee for six years, delivered Meals on Wheels, and participated in the Lion's Club and American Legion.

Herman loved fishing, hunting, and playing baseball and softball. He loved the Brewers and Packers and at age 93, attended his first Brewer game. Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Rabska of Amherst Junction, Cole Rabska (Melissa) of Cable, WI, Cody (Debbie) Rabska of Medford, WI, Kristi (Brendan) Noonan of Chicago, IL, Megan (Matt) Ward of Milwaukee, WI, David Kitze of Denver, CO, Erica Kitze of Denver, CO, and Brooklyn (Mathew) Bulf of Minneapolis, MN. He is further survived by his four children Karen (Mike) Kitze, Gregory (Candace) Rabska, Michael Rabska, and Molly Emmerich; his three great-grandchildren, Cali, Max (Megan) and Courtlyn (Kevin) and his two brothers, Lester of Wisconsin Rapids, and Roger of Milwaukee.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Emma, his wife; Dorothy, his sister Florence Peterson and his brother Howard Rabska.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Honor Flight and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
