Vanderhyden, Murvil G. (8 OCT 1920 – 2 APR 1968)

Murvil Gilbert Vanderhyden, 47, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 1968, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Murvil was born Oct. 8, 1920 at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. He enlisted in the 32nd Division and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. During this time he was stationed in the Philippine Islands and New Guinea. He also received a Purple Heart and Good Conduct medal. He was formerly employed by his father, and the past year he was employed at Presto Industries.

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on Saturday, April 6th. Rev. Francis Brockman officiated at the ten a.m. service, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Gilbert Alger, Edmund Alger, Cyril Alger, Chester, Sniegowski, William Butek and Peter Asselin. Honorary pallbearers were: Clarence Patten, James Hanley John Frinack, D. McKenzie, Juel Lund and Lee Vaesser.

Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wilferd G. Vanderhyden; one brother, Wilferd E. Vanderhyden of Thorp, and one half-brother, Richard Vanderhyden of Milwaukee; one sister, (Dorothy) Mrs. Cliff Carlson of West Allis; one half-sister, (Ann) Mrs. John Geving of New Richmond, and 16 nieces and nephews.

Out of town relatives and friends attending were from Stevens Point, Milwaukee, Stanley, New Richmond, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Lodi, Kaukauna, Greenwood, Chicago, Ill. and St. Paul.
