Kunze, Gilbert "Gib" E. (30 SEP 1930 - 12 MAY 2015)

Gilbert "Gib" E. Kunze, age 84, of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by his loving family.

As per Gilbert's wishes, there will be no formal services held. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with arrangements.

Gilbert was born in the Town of Hull on September 30, 1930. He is the son of Joseph and Catherine (Meyer) Kunze. Gib attended Riverside School in the Town of Hull.

Gilbert served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952-54. He was awarded the purple heart and bronze star.

Gilbert was united in marriage on June 17, 1961 to Joanne V. Weideman. He worked in Idaho at a logging camp, drove a cattle truck and retired from Melvin Companies after many years. Gilbert was a faithful member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford, a volunteer with the Abbotsford Fire Department for many years and Knaack-Thompson VFW Post #865 in Abbotsford. He enjoyed deer hunting, puttering on his hobby farm and hiking in the woods.
Gilbert also was fond of his dogs, especially "Buddy".

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Joanne of Abbotsford; four children: Dianne (Michael) Magnuson of Oshkosh, Mike Kunze (Tina) of Oshkosh, Patty (Scott) Rueden of Abbotsford and Mark Kunze of Curtiss; nine grandchildren: Chad (Kirstin), Nick (Rachel), David (Rachael), Andy, Haley, Kelsey, Hudson, Tanner, and Lexi and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers: Raymond Kunze of Idaho, Bernard (Beverly) Kunze of Abbotsford; a sister: Frances Angelich of Medford and a sister-in-law; Verjean Kunze of Abbotsford.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Lawrence Kunze, Estella "Teda" Sossaman, and in infancy, Herbert and Helen Kunze.
