Mr. and Mrs. Neal Laine enjoyed the pleasant weekend at their cottage on Round Lake out of Fifield.

Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Olds and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Madsen were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C.N. McMillan at their home on Lake Holcombe Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Laakso enjoyed a visit on the 11th of a relative, Mrs. Eddie Cass, of Orlando, Fla., who was enroute to her home after attending the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Lillian Deneen, buried at Hammond.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wolfram enjoyed a week’s visit in Sheboygan with relatives and friends returning home Monday forenoon.

Mrs. Violet Poppe returned home Saturday evening from Columbus, Ohio, where she spent a week visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Poppe, and became acquainted with her new granddaughter, Jill.

Mr. Thomas E. Keith and children, David, Karen and Chuckie and Jeannie, of Siren, arrived Saturday to spend the weekend at the home of her parents. Mrs. Keith and brother, Frank Zalabsky visited their father, Fran Sr., at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield Saturday night, and again on Sunday she and her children and mother visited at the hospital. Frank Sr. is reported to be in good spirits and has now been hospitalized four and one-half months. Thursday of this week he will undergo surgery on his arm and in the near future, on his left leg. Rank reports he enjoys visits from his many Owen friends and they may call on him at any time in room 309, children included.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendt were much disturbed over the accident that happened to their son-in-law, Roger Wathke, of Eau Claire, when his hand was cut off in a chopper accident while working on a farm outside Eau Claire. The accident occurred last week and Roger is still hospitalized at Luther Hospital. His wife is the former Josephine Wendt.

Thursday night the Owen park football field, the freshman and sophomore team of the Owen High met the freshman and sophomore team of Greenwood. The Greenwood boys made the better showing with the score being 13 – 7. Art Feldman and Tom Miller, coach the freshman and junior high team.

Mr. and Mrs. Toivo Kallio drove to Horicon Sunday visiting the marsh and seeing the geese.

Ron Kallio, student at WSU at Menomonie, attended the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Thursday of last week.

Mr. and Mrs. John Bacon vacationed from Wednesday to Sunday visiting relatives at Waukesha and Johnson Creek.

Visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Liepke, this week, are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bauer of Waukesha.

Mrs. Richard Mattes of Milwaukee is spending several days at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Weinberger, and also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Weinberger at Thorp.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Whalen of Milwaukee were overnight guests Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bladl.

Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Barager and son, Jack, returned home Sunday from Madison, where they had been since Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Barager attended the annual fall conference of the Wisconsin Press Association, which is hosted by the University of Wisconsin. They also enjoyed visits with their daughter, Jean, and son, Jim, students at the university, as well as Mr. Barager’s brother, John, who came in from Milwaukee Saturday morning and joined them for the football game.
