Andelin, Frank (16 SEP 1888 – 6 OCT 1965)

Emil Niemi Sr., a former resident of the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) area, informed us Monday of the death of Frank Andelin, who was also a resident of this community for many years.

Mr. Andelin’s death occurred Oct. 6, 1965 when he passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach. He was hospitalized for eight days prior to his death being treated for a lung congestion. However, it is reported that he had been in failing health the past two months.

Funeral services were conducted at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, Oct. 9, from Lakeside Chapel in Lake Worth, with Rev. Ollila officiating. Burial was made in Pine Crest Cemetery. Included as pallbearers were Emil Niemi and his son, Emil Niemi Jr.

Frank Andelin, 77, was born Sept. 16, 1888 in Finland. He came to this country in 1909 settling at Negaunee, Mich., where he worked in the iron and copper mines for several years. Later he moved to De Kalb, Ill., where he worked in the steel mills until coming to Owen in the late 1920’s. Here he made his home until 1953, working for Kidd & Co. until his retirement in 1956. In 1958 he moved to Lake Worth, Florida., where he has since made his home.

He never married, but his passing is mourned by a brother still living in Finland; two nieces living in California and two nephews living in Ishpeming, Mich. A younger brother, Matt, died last year in Palmer Michigan.
