Smith, Beverly Jean (18 SEP 1965)

A residence at 314 Fifth Av. In Eau Claire awaits Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thorson of Owen, who were married Saturday, Sept. 18, 1965 at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church at Owen.

The bride, Miss Beverly Jean Smith, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Smith, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and repeated vows with the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thorson, also of Owen. The Rev. Hubert L. Crubel, pastor of the church, officiated and the church choir sang.

Miss Smith came before the altar which was decorated with white gladioli, in a floor length gown having a bodice of Chantilly lace. She was given in marriage by her father. Details of her dress were a Sabrina neckline and bouffant skirt, which had all around tiers of lace with sequin trim, and ended in a chapel sweep train.

Her bouquet of white chrysanthemums and yellow roses were formed in cascade style and her fingertip veil was held to a crystal crown.

Miss Donna Fritz, Owen, served as maid of honor. Mrs. David Smith of Withee, and Mrs. Larry Dallman, greenwood, were bridesmaids. Each wore a blue chiffon street length dress with a lace jacket and had shaded blue accessories’ with their cascade bouquets of white and blue chrysanthemums.

Little Karol Thorson was flower girl and Todd Fritz the ring bearer.

Serving the groom were Robert Steffen of Waukegan, Ill., as the best man, while David Smith of Withee and Larry Dallman of Greenwood were the groomsmen. Robert Brock and Bill Telford of Owen did the ushering duties.

A reception took place in the parish dining room after the ceremony, and in the afternoon coffee was served at the parental Smith home. The dance that evening took place in the Legion Hall at Owen.

Both of the bridal couple graduated in 1962 from Owen-Withee High School and have been working in Eau Claire, she at Leath and Co., and he as a bookkeeper at Hehl and Grohn Co. He also attended the Vocational Technical and Adult School in Eau Claire. They enjoyed their honeymoon touring through northern Wisconsin.
