Degnitz, Darell Glenn Joseph (17 October 1949 - 1 March 2015)

Darell G. J. Degnitz, 65, of Sandy, UT, passed away March 1, 2015, a home in the presence of his family. Darell Glenn Joseph Degnitz was born Oct. 17, 1949 to Elaine (Degnitz) Sura and raised by Alvin and Angie Degnitz until age of 12. He lived and went to school in the Spencer and Neillsville area.

Darell was united in marriage to Donna Marie Struensee Dec. 8, 1979, at Neillsville. They lived at Neillsville, Rock Springs, WY, and then in Sandy, UT.

Animals and children truly know the character of a man, and in Darell’s case, both have loved him his entire life. Darell was not quick to let people into his life, and those he did, were friends for life. He maintained the rough and tough outward characteristics seen in old westerns and sung about in country songs from the 60s. But those he chose to let in, like the children and animals, knew him for what he was--a loving and caring husband, father and friend.

Darell will be remembered by his loving wife, Donna, and their children and families; son Glenn (Heather) Degnitz and their daughters, Abigail Degnitz, Hannah Degnitz, Nadya Bellis and Briannan Degnitz; son, Jesse Degnitz; and daughter Michele (Tony) Wilson, and their son Joseph Degnitz.

Darell joins the many family and friends he has lost, including his oldest son, Daniel ‘Danny’ Degnitz, taken November 1993; the men who shaped him, Alvin Degnitz and Charlie Kovatch; and great friends, Al Kazor and Sheldon Maynes. In the words of Teanna, Sheldon’s granddaughter, ‘It’s OK, Grandpa is up there waiting for him; he is ready to go fishing.’

A celebration of his life was held March 7, 2015, at their home in Sandy, UT.
