Keskimaki, Eugene I. (10 MAY 1907 – 23 JUN 1965)

Eugene I. Keskimaki, a longtime resident of this community and of late years a resident of South St. Paul, died late Wednesday afternoon, June 23, 1965, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul. Death was due to complication following major surgery for lung cancer.

His remains were returned here for funeral services held Saturday afternoon, June 26 at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. Rev. Beryl Knudsen, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee , was in charge of the service, with burial being made at Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss.

Six nephews – Larry Hansen, Clifford, Kenneth and Lloyd Smith, Klay Keskimaki and Ronald Hamrick acted as pallbearers.

The deceased, 58 years of age, was born May 19, 1907 at Ishpeming, Mich. He moved to Wisconsin, settling in the town of Holway, Taylor County, with his parents, when he was a youth of eight years of age. In later years he made his home in the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) area and pursued the heavy construction business.

Mourning his passing are his wife, the former Evelyn Miller, whom he married on March 11, 196? at South St. Paul, Minn. Three step-daughters, Mrs. Bernard Campbell, Mrs. Loren Doffing, and Atty. Miller, of South St. Paul; five sisters, Mrs. Emil (Kathryn) Hansen, Withee; Mrs. Frank (Irja) Smith, Owen; Mrs. Wm. (Gertrude) Smith, Minocqua; Mrs. Gordon (Ingrid) Hamrich, Medford; and Mrs. Harold (Edna) Williams, Withee; and a brother, Martin Keskimaki of Withee.

Out of town relatives attending the services included Mrs. Eugene Keskimaki and Patty, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Campbell and sons, Mrs. Loren Doffing, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Scherer, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Bailey, all of South St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith, Lloyd Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hamrick, Minocqua; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hamrick and Mrs. Patsy Hoffman, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Green Bay; Dr. and Mrs. D.W. Schultz, Shawano; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smith, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Decker, Pewaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hansen, Minneapolis , Minn.; Toivo and Leslie Hannula, Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Lempi Hannula and Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Matson and daughters of Ishpeming, Mich
