Pickett, Sylvia I. (13 DEC 1930 – 22 MAR 2015)

Sylvia I. Pickett, 84, Spencer, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 25, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer. Rev. Samuel Martin officiated. Burial followed in West Spencer Cemetery.

Sylvia Isabelle Beaver was born on Dec. 13, 1930, in Loyal, the daughter of Bernard Sr. and Rosetta (nee Ryan) Beaver. She was raised and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1948. Sylvia married Jack N. Pickett on June 28, 1950, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. They lived and farmed northwest of Spencer until 1980, at which time they moved into Spencer. While Sylvia was a homemaker and farm wife for most of her life, she also worked seasonally at the Loyal Cannery for a few years, worked at Land O' Lakes in Spencer for a short time after moving off of the farm, and babysat for area families. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was an active member of its PCCW. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crossword puzzles, crocheting, reading, and square dancing in her younger years.

Sylvia will be dearly missed by her children, Brian (Jacqueline) Pickett, Spencer, Earl (Annette) Pickett, Marshfield, and Michelle Pickett, Spencer; three grandchildren, Dawn (Chad) Much, Spencer, Benjamin (Lorrie) Pickett, Marshfield, and Rochelle Holmes, Menomonie; three great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brody Much, and Elle Sofia Fults; one brother, Bernard Beaver Jr., Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Helen "Cookie" Beaver, Milwaukee; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, on July 26, 2001; and two brothers, Richard Beaver and Ronald Beaver.
