Ried, Esther E. (Hein) (2 MAY 1919 - 9 MAR 2015)

Esther E. Ried died Monday, March 9 at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford where she had resided for the past 18 months.

Visitation will be at Community United Church of Christ, Medford from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Friday, March 13

Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 13 at Community United Church of Christ, Medford, with Rev. Cathy Burbury officiating, Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

She was born May 2, 1919 in the Township of Rib Lake, to Rudolph and Eda (Klein) Hein. She attended Town of Rib Lake elementary schools.

Esther was married Raymond “Rick” Ried, to June 1, 1946 at Medford. He preceded her in death March 9, 1991.

After her education she worked in Chicago for a period of time prior to her marriage. After her marriage, she worked mostly as a house & mother. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts and various church activities. She was a member of Community United Church of Christ, Medford.

Survivors include daughter Dorene (Ken) Gumz of Dorchester and son Richard “Rick” (Linda) Ried of Polson, MT, sister Dorothy (Ted) Kaye of Northbrook, IL, brother Gilbert (Phyllis) Hein of Waukesha and step sister Edna Markow of Medford, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by son Gary in 2000, sisters Myrtle Amo, Mayme Howe, one step brother and four step sisters.

Honorary Pallbearers were Christina, Lindsay & Elisa Ried, Kristi Philhower, Stacey Kleberg, Mindy & Eileen Gumz. Active pallbearers were LeRoy Markow, Terry Gumz, Robert Kleberg, Tom Philhower, Brandon & Matt Ried.
