Swiontek, Mary Jean (26 AUG 1967)

Miss Mary Jean Swiontek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Swiontek Jr. of Bancroft, and Gerald J. Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Meyer, Colby, were married in an 11 a.m. ceremony Saturday, Aug. 26, 1967 at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church at Almond.

The Rev. Joseph Walijeski was a witness to the exchange of vows. Music for the ceremony was provided by Mrs. Earl Leary, organist.

The bride, escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father, wore an entrained bridal gown of peau de soie. Her headpiece cap of organdy petals was completed with a chin length veil. She carried a cascade of white roses, daisies, stephanotis, baby's breath and ivy.

Maid of honor was Miss Ellen Swiontek of Bancroft, and the three bridesmaids were Miss Barbara Swiontek and Miss Nina Swiontek, both of Bancroft, and Miss Maribeth Meyer of Colby.

Their frocks were empire design of embroidered organza with headpieces similar to the bride's. Their flowers were bouquets of daisies and carnations.

James Meyer of Chicago was best man, and groomsmen Charles Meyer of Madison, Richard Swiontek of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Lee Waldhart completed the bridal party.

Performing the ushering duties were Mark Kucker of Newark, N.J., and Gary Waldhart.

Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the church hall. A reception and dance in the evening were held at the Plover Hall at Plover.

Following a wedding trip to Canada and Expo '67 at Montreal, the couple will live in Rochester, Minn., where the groom is an associate programmer for the IBM Research Development Center.

Mr. Meyer attend the University of Wisconsin, where he received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics in 1965. He taught for a year and then returned to the university, receiving a master of science degree in Computer Science this year.

The bride also attended the University of Wisconsin.

Guests attending the wedding were from Madison, Stetsonville, Stevens Point, Bancroft, Wis. Rapids, Nekoosa, Fond du Lac, DePere, Milwaukee, Owen, Marshfield, Colby, Chicago, Ill., Roselle, Ill., Evanston, Ill., Minnesota, California and New Jersey.
