Langfeldt, John H. (29 AUG 1880 – 27 DEC 1969)

John Henry Langfeldt, 89, of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away on Dec. 27, 1969 at the Memorial Home in Neillsville following a lingering illness.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1969 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. William Humlie officiated and burial took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Henry Vollrath, Bob Langfeldt, Guy Langfeldt, Wesley Johnson, Lester Bloom and Charles Ziers. Mrs. Verland Dux and Mrs. Ervin Dux sang "I'm but a Stranger Here" and "Lead on O King Eternal."

Mr. Langfeldt was born Aug. 29, 1880 in Germany. He came to the U.S. when he was two years of age with his parents. On Nov. 29, 1905 he married Marie Gelhaar, and later moved to the Town of Beaver (Clark Co.). His first wife passed away in July 1926. He was remarried on June 23, 1928 to Louise Esbach. He retired from his farm and moved to Loyal in 1949.

He held the following offices: past Director of the Clark Co. Rural Electrification, Past Director of the Federal Land Bank, past member of the Oak Grove School Board, Town of Beaver, and was active in other community affairs.

He was a member of Trinnity Lutheran Church, Loyal, and a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood of that church.

Surviving children are Mrs. Kenneth (Janis) Vollrath, Greenwood, Mrs. Lamont (Leona) Schmidt, Phillips, Wis., Max Langfeldt, Loyal, Edwin Langfeldt, Racine, Mrs. Ulysses (Elsie) Cain, Loyal, and Clarence Langfeldt, Wausau.

Surviving step-children are: Hotchkiss, Mrs. Johns Efram of New Brighton, Minn., Mrs. Albert Novak, Owen, Wis., Mrs. Myron (Dorothy) Shanks, Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Edward (Mildred?) Raatz, Unity, Wis.

Children deceased are Ervin and Dorothy.

Surviving brothers and sisters are Fred Langfeldt, Downey, Calif., and Mrs. William Wichman of Yonton, Calif.

He has four sisters and two brothers deceased.

He has 50 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.
