Commencement exercises were held Monday night, May 26, 1947 at 8:00 p.m. in the
high school auditorium. Forty-five students received their diplomas at this
time. The following awards were presented to the following people: Scholarship
award to Calvin Worchel, the Valedictorian; Edith Anderson and Hertha Heilman
received scholarship awards as co-salutatorians; Ervin Steiger was presented
with the musical award; Patrick Plunkett with the dramatic award; Edith Behrens,
the forensic award; Joseph Plunkett, the athletic award; Hertha Heilman, the
D.A.R award, and Calvin Worchel, the Readers Digest award.
Professor Leonard Haas of the State Teachers College of Eau Claire, gave the
Commencement address. The high school band and the senior boys’ quartet
furnished the musical numbers. The Rev. A.E. Norson gave the invocation and the
benediction, and Mrs. Schwarze played the processional and recessional.
