Tuttle, Winnifred (7 AUG 1876 – 23 JUL 1946)

Last rites were held for Mrs. Winnifred Tuttle Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church, Beach, N.D., Rev. McClure officiating. Mrs. Tuttle passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 1940 at the Johnstone Memorial Hospital, after an illness of a year. Pallbearers were Mahlon Stecker, J.M. Still, Wendell Youells, Chas. Slocomb, Irv Gordon and M.O. Wallace. Special tribute was paid her kindly and uncomplaining disposition, in spite of many reverses. Interment was made in the Beach Cemetery.

Winnifred Tuttle was born in Sterling, Ontario, Canada, Aug. 7, 1876, and came to the United States in 1879. She was married to Roy E. Tuttle at Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis. in 1902. Two children were born to the couple, a daughter, Norma, now Mrs. Norma Green, and a son, Arthur. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge.

Survivors include her daughter and son, 1 grandchild, Mrs. Barbara White, Dalton, Pa.; 1 great-grandchild, George Arthur White; cousins, Harry Hubble, Beach; Mrs. Edgar Johnston, Portland, Ore; Mrs. Essie Andrews and Marner Cook, both of Jamestown. All of the out of town relatives attended the funeral services.

The above article was sent us by Mrs. J. S. Andrews and was taken from the Beach, N.D. paper. Mrs. Andrews tells us that Mrs. Tuttle was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Hubble and came to Greenwood in 1879.

Roy E. Tuttle kept a livery stable in partnership with Hezekiah Hubble on the lot where the new Co-op building is now being built. They moved to Beach, N.D. about 1910.

They will be remembered by many of the older people.
