Moore, Ruth June (18 August 1929 - 25 December 2014)

Ruth June Moore, 85, of Longview, WA, died Dec. 25, 2014, at her home. She was born Aug. 18, 1929, in the Town of Lynn, Clark County, to Henry and Caroline (Steffen) Schier. She attended the Mayflower School in Lynn and Granton High School. She married Ferdinand J. Moore June 19, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. They moved to the Longview area from Rhinelander 54 years ago.

Ruth was a homemaker and active community volunteer with the Eagles, Moose, St. Joseph’s Circle, FISH, St. Vincent DePaul and the Longview Senior Center. She enjoyed walking, time with her family and friends and playing Bunko. She love the ocean, world travel and watching her grandchildren. Ruth had a dry sense of humor and was honest, stoic and loyal. She was stubborn and feisty but very loving and accepting with much compassion.

Ruth is survived by seven children: Gloria (Jim) Campbell of Vancouver, WA, Carolyn (Jim) Betts of Yakima, WA, Sue (Grant) Gillaspie of Kalama, WA, Dennis (Julie) Moore of Castle Rock, WA, Terry (Patty) Moore of Bremerton, WA, Dawn (Ernie) Dietel of Kelso, WA, and Diana Hash of Longview; two siblings: Dolores Boller of Hancock and LaVern ‘Bud’ (Grace) Schier of Marshfield; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand in 1990; a son, Gary; a daughter, Cynthia; and four granddaughters.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Longview.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Research, the Community Home Health & Hospice or a charitable organization of your choice.

Arrangements are by Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory.
