Henchen, Robert Clarence (- 24 November 2014)

Robert Henchen, 85, of Neillsville died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Robert Clarence Henchen was born at home in Globe, the son of Clarence and Agnes (Minsaas) Henchen. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Swiech June 9, 1955. He retired from the Nelson Muffler factory in the mid-90’s and then worked as a skilled laborer doing electrical and plumbing work in the area.

Robert was active in the VFW Legion Post 6220. He enjoyed hunting, being out in the woods and helping out his neighbors. He was a very hard worker and always looked for ways to improve his knowledge taking college classes into his 70s. He was very loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be missed dearly by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Rita (Terry) Sternitzky of Neillsville; granddaughter, Bobbi Jo (Dan Moore) Delo of Neillsville; brothers and sisters, Clarabel ‘Lefty’ Djubinski of Greenwood, Clarence ‘Snuffy’ (Ethel) Henchen of Marshfield, and Ronald (Joane) Henchen of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews, friends and his cat, Mischief.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris (Victor) Diercks; Brothers, Art Henchen and Delmon ‘Butch’ Henchen; and a brother-in-law, Andrew Djubinski.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Military honors were accorded by the Wallis Hinker Brux Greenwood American legion post 238. Private graveside services took place in City Point.
