Granton (7 June 1973)

The Granton Public Library received seven books recently from the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Mrs. Virginia Hansen accepted the books on behalf of the library board.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Behrens and family of Hebron, Ill., were weekend guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ziegler, and visited Mr. Ziegler who is a patient at memorial Hospital. Sunday guests at the Ziegler home were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bruggeman and family of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Coyle. The Bruggemans and the Coyles also visited with Mr. Ziegler at the hospital.

Mrs. Marcia Crothers plans to attend the annual United Methodist Church conference June 7-10 at the American Baptist Assembly at Green Lake.

The UMW of York Center United Methodist Church was to meet Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Herb Free in Loyal for a noon dinner. Members’ families were also invited to attend. Mrs. Ora Benedict was to lead the topic.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rowe of Orange, Ca, called Sunday afternoon on Mrs. Verla Hales.

Mrs. Otto Schmidtke and Mrs. William Schmidtke spent Sunday with the latter’s cousins Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stevens of Rt. 2 Spencer.

The Ladies Aid society of Zion Lutheran Church was to meet Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Elda Bartz and Mrs. Viola Garbisch as hostesses.

Mr and Mrs. Lyle Fero visited last Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Wischulke and Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Porath. Their son, Neal spent Saturday and Saturday night with them enroute home to Milwaukee from a Canadian fishing trip. LaVern Schier of Marshfield accompanied him on the fishing trip.

Royal Neighbors Fidelity Camp met last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Manford Cain with Miss Ruth Pietenpol as hostess.
