Mathias, Raymond Emil (1909? - 20 AUG 2014)
Ray Mathias passed away peacefully on August 20, 2014 at the age of 105 at his
home in San Clemente, California. He was only a month and one-half from his
106th birthday.
He was born in Rib Lake, Wisconsin but lived in Orange County for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alma; his sister, Bernita; and
brother, Walter.
He is survived by his sister, Hattie; nieces, Carolyn and Bobbie; nephews, Bob,
John, Dick and Ken; and half brothers, Richard, Glenn, Dan and Bill. Ray had an
interesting career which included owning a restaurant, night club and liquor
store.
During WW II he was a cook in the Coast Guard on San Clemente Island. He was
also a police officer in Los Angeles and car salesman. His last occupation was a
sales representative for Bohemian Distributing where he won numerous awards for
his sales efforts selling liquor to restaurants and bars in Laguna Beach and San
Clemente.
Ray loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching college football,
and playing golf. He was always eager to share his fishing stories with both
family and friends.
He will be missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
