Funeral services for Miss Harriet Johnson, 90, Colby, were held Saturday, January 21, at the Colby Methodist church. The Rev. R. James Hagen officiated, and burial was in Colby Memorial cemetery. Lulloff Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.

Miss Johnson died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, at the Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville.

Pallbearers were LaVerne Polster, Russell Meyer, John Coates, Ray Binning, Frank Goeltz Jr., and Richard Aderhold.

Miss Mary Vorland sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Lead, Kindly Light”, accompanied at the organ by Miss Linda Goeltz.

Harriet Johnson was born November 14, 1876, at Stockridge in Sheboygan county. At the age of three she came to Colby, where she received her elementary education. She also attended state college at Stevens Point. Miss Johnson taught for several years in Colby schools, after which she spent many years, teaching at Kenosha. In 1956, she retired from teaching and returned to Colby where she made her home until the time of her death.

She was a member of the Colby Methodist church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service, and the Royal Neighbors of America.

The only survivors are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Relatives attending the funeral were from Sturtevant, Ladysmith, Holcombe, Stanley, and Foster City, Calif.
