Ludovic, Peter C. (12 October 1892 - 2 May 1973)

Peter C. Ludovic, 80, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, veteran service officer in Clark County since the late 1940’s, died May 2 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire which he entered a week earlier for surgery.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the united Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by the American Legion, The V. F. W., and the Wisconsin Army National Guard. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Peter Ludovic was born October 12, 1892, in Appleton to Nicholas and Bertha (Magdalenski) Ludovic. He moved with his family to Hewitt, near Marshfield, and was educated there and at Marquette Law School in Milwaukee.

One of the first AAA employees in the state, Mr. Ludovic was with that organization prior to entering military service October 4, 1917, at Medford. He served overseas as a member of Company G, 144th Inf., was discharge at Camp Grant, Ill., June 19, 1919, and re-enlisted to serve as a field officer at Ft. Snelling, Mn. from July 9, 1919 until July 2, 1921.

Mr. Ludovic published the Clark County Journal for several years and served for several terms as county coroner. During World War II he worked on the Alcan Highway and in the Aleutian islands. His marriage to the former Addie Haugen took place November 23, 1935, at Wabasha, Mn. He was married to the former Dorothy Cook on June 3, 1947, at Red Wing, Mn.

Mr. Ludovic was a member of Wilson-Hintz Post No. 2241, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73, American Legion, and of the Wisconsin and the Northwest Veteran Service Officers associations.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dorothy, are four children, Mrs. Dennis (Gail) Maus of Rice Lake, Peter R. Ludovic of Hales Corners, Leroy Ludovic of Neillsville and Nicholas Ludovic of Kent, Oh., a sister, Mrs. Hugh (Sadie) Haight of Neillsville, a brother, Richard Ludovic of Boise, Id.; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Frank Brown, Ray Hetzel, Joe Hennlich, Robert Elkins, Conrad Orth, Frank Nikolay, Wilfred Marcott and Willis Birkett. Mrs. Robert Peters sand “Beyond the Sunset.” She was accompanied by Mrs. James Spangler.

John Pfiffner, Prospect heights, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hetzel, Granton; Wilfred J. Marcott and Joe Hennlich, Dorchester; Frank Nikolay, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Beede, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Peter R.
