Olstinski, Amy Beth (? 1965 - 16 July 1969)

MARY BETH OLSTINSKI AGE 4, DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY AUTO

A 4-year girl hurrying out to the roadway to greet her father as he got out of a car after being driven home from his work in Marshfield, was killed instantly when she was struck by a passing auto about 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16.

Chief of Police Harlan Haunschild was called to the scene of the accident.

Killed was Amy Beth (?), one of five children of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olstinski. The family resides a short distance north of Greenwood on Highway 73. The child was attended by Dr. William Olson, of Greenwood.

Driver of the southbound car which struck the child after the father had made a futile effort to give the little girl notice of the danger, was George Speich, 76, Greenwood.

Speich was not held. He told Clark County authorities, who investigated at the scene, that he didn't see the girl until he "felt something bump the right front fender," Robert Lulloff, coroner, said S[eich was in his own lane of travel and stopped his car after the accident.

Amy's body was tossed in the road shoulder. Dr. Olson, said she apparently had died instantly. The body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. David T. Pankow, pastor of the Colby Zion Lutheran Church officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood cemetery.

In addition to her parents she is survived by two brothers, Mark and Brian and two sisters, Lisa and Sarah, all at home, and her maternal grandparents.
