Thurs, August (23 Aug 1898 - ?13 Aug 1969)

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, for August Thurs, 70, of Unity, Whi did Thursdayevening. The Rev. Wm. Rubburch officiated and burial was made in th parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold Pagelsdorf, Leonard Gehrke, Joe Bymers, Emil Johnson, Arvid Talcoat and Ferdinand Jleinsky. Mrs. Milen Kibbel accompanied at the organ as the congregation sang "Rock of Ages."
Mr. Thurs was born August 28, 1998, in he township of Hamburg, where he received his education. He was married May 26, 1923, to Alma Judes. Following their marriage, the couple armed in the Unity area for five years and then in the Spencer area for twenty years. He also worked at Weyerhaeuser Company at Marshfield for 21 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens Club of Spencer.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Norene) Rinehart, Colby; three sons, Eugene Thurs, Wausau, Kenneth Thurs, Janesville, Roger Thurs, Sheboygan; nine grandchildren; a brother, Richard Thurs, Merrill; and three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Woller, Merrill, Mrs. Minna Durmick, Stevens Point, and Mrs. Lucy Hanke, Wausau.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
