Straub, Rosina O. (21 OCT 1915 - 3 OCT 2014)

Rosina O. Straub, age 98, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Clement Manor Retirement Community in Milwaukee, where she had resided since 1996.

A memorial Mass will be held at Clement Manor Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at West Spencer Cemetery. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family.

Rosina was born October 21, 1915 in Marshfield to Andrew and Theresa (Wiegel) Pankratz of Hewitt. She married Wilmer Straub on September 22, 1936 in Hewitt. They lived in Spencer for 60 years. Wilmer died in January of 1998. They were active members of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Rosina thrived in family business ventures. In the 1940's, she and Wilmer showed the latest movies on weekends in the Spencer Municipal Building. Admission was 12 cents. Operating Straub's Drive-in created summer jobs for their children. In the 1960's, she made and sold hundreds of cuddly toy animals and dolls. Her artistic talent produced numerous oil paintings, featuring landscapes of familiar scenes. A recent favorite activity was serving on Clement Manor's Welcome Committee.

Along with seven grandchildren, and four great grandsons, Rosina leaves behind six children, Donna Mae Straub, Nancy (David) Stewart, and Mark (Beth) Straub all of the Milwaukee area, Janet (William) Long of Bogart, GA, Marjorie (James) Joslin of Nekoosa and Ray (Jeanne) Straub of Sebring, FL. Three brothers, Lawrence and Mathew of Marshfield, and Felix of Wayland, MI also survive. Her husband died in 1998. Two granddaughters, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
