Matta, Thyra Ann (Marriage - 3 February 1973)

Wedding vows were exchanged February 3, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, Mi., by Miss Thyra Ann Matta of Roseville, Mi., and Bernard Edward Zager of KI sawyer AFB, Mi. The Rev. Robert Sutherland officiated at the double-ring ceremony. A reception followed at the Negaunee township community building.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matta of Rt. 1 Negaunee, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zager of Neillsville. The Mattas presented their daughter in marriage.

The bride’s gown of white silk peau de soie was trimmed with point d’ Alencon lace and featured a high collar, sleeves puffed to the elbow and fitted to the wrist and a ruffled hemline. The gown was designed and fashioned by the bride’s sister, Miss Kathleen Matta of Negaunee.

Miss Matta attended her sister as maid of honor. She also designed and made her rose velvet coat dress and bonnet, which was complimented by a white muff with a single pink rose. Miss Patricia Zager, of Menomonie, sister of the groom, wore an identical costume in her role as bridesmaid.

Rick Shepley, Negaunee, served as bestman. Groomsman was Philip Randall of Flint, Mi. Guests were seated by Ronald Ormond of Neillsville and Donald Matta of Milwaukee.

The new Mrs. Zager is a graduate of Negaunee High School and of Northern Michigan University and has taught in East Detroit, Mi. Her husband graduated from Neillsville high School and from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He is stationed with the Air Force at KI Sawyer AFB, where the couple will live upon their return from a wedding trip to Hawaii.
