Howard, Carl F. Sr. (3 MAR 1934 - 12 SEP 2014)

Carl F. Howard Sr., 80, Medford, died on Friday, Sept. 12 at Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Harold and Kathy Pester home, W2586 Hwy 64 in Medford, and another celebration of life service will be held at Garden Prairie Park in Garden Prairie, Ill. on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. Burial services will be private.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.

Carl Howard was born on March 3, 1934 in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Simon and Sarah (Overcash) Howard. He attended schools in Charlotte and graduated from high school there.

After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in April 1963.

On September 5, 1962, he married Catherine Cronick, who preceded him in death on January 3, 1973. On April 4, 1987 in Capron, Ill., he married Henrietta Wiedrich, who survives. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, Ill. as an auto assembler for over 31 years. He was a longtime friend of Bill W.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Carl (Margaret) Howard Jr. of Machesney Park, Ill.; stepchildren, Christine Pester, Robert Pester Jr., Harold Pester, Tammy Pester-Peterson, Esther Truckey and Timothy Pester; one grandson, Nicholas Scott Howard of Machesney Park; 22 step-grandchildren; 26 step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Linda Hoyt; three brothers Edison Howard Sr., Charles Howard and Scott Howard; and three sisters, Juanita Howard-Helms, Lillian Howard and Frances Howard-Shumate.
