Tessmer, Donald Lawrence (22 AUG 1925 - 1 SEP 2014)

Donald Lawrence Tessmer, age 89, of Dorchester, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorchester at 12 p.m., with Rev. Jerome Freimuth officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Private burial will be held late at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery South.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Dorchester is entrusted with the arrangements.

Don was born on August 22, 1925 on the home farm in the town of Mayville, Clark County. He was the only child of Gust and Rose (Meyer) Tessmer. He received his education at St. Peter Lutheran School in Dorchester.

Don was united in marriage to Elaine Juedes on September 16, 1944 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple operated the family dairy farm in the town of Mayville until retirement. Don also drove school bus for 22 years for Dorchester and Dor-Abby schools. Since retirement, they resided in the village of Dorchester.

In his earlier years, Don enjoyed playing baseball for the Dorchester community team. He also loved to follow the Cubs and Brewers and was a Packers fan. Don will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, old cars and tractors. Don also enjoyed league bowling and playing for the church dartball team.

Don is loving survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Elaine Tessmer of Dorchester; three children, Bruce (Sue) Tessmer of Dorchester, Bonnie (Myron) Saeger of Wisconsin Rapids, and Jean (David) Korntved of Nekoosa; four grandchildren, Nathan (Mary) Saeger, Brian (Ashley) Tessmer, Brent (Jeanna) Tessmer and Natalie (fiancé Mike Ganoni) Saeger; and one great-grandchild, Mitchell Saeger.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
