On Sunday, July 1, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Merrill, Miss Doris Jean Strutz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Strutz, Merrill, became the bride of Roger R. Mead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mead, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), The Rev. W.F. Ludwig officiated at the four o'clock ceremony.

Fine net trimmed the white satin gown selected by the bride, that featured tapering sleeves that came to points over the writs. Her net veil was of fingertip length and she carried a prayer book topped with an orchid.

Miss Nola Gokey, Antigo, cousin of the bride, as maid of honor, was attired in a net trimmed Nile green gown. She carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.

Robert Mead, brother of the groom, was best man, while James Mead, Waukesha, another brother, and Eric Strutz, Clintonville, uncle of the bride, were ushers.

The bride, a graduate of the Merrill High School, is a clerk at Peterman's Store in Merrill. The groom, a graduate of Greenwood High School with the class of 1947, is a machinist Mate 3 in the United State Navy.

Following a honeymoon trip in southern Wisconsin, the bride will reside with her parents at Merrill while the groom will go to California, where he will enroll in a school at a naval base there.

Guests present from away were from Milwaukee, Waukesha, Big Bend, Loyal, Two Rivers, Clintonville, Birnamwood, Rhinelander, Antigo and Greenwood.
