Tartar, George Pittman (14 October 1938 - 11 August 2014) With Flag

George P. Tarter, age 75, of Marshfield, WI, formerly of Loyal, WI, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014, at House of the Dove, in Marshfield. Visitation began at 10 a.m. with a memorial service held at 11 a.m. and additional visitation afterwards on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the Lutheran Cemetery, in Loyal, at a later date.

George Pittman Tarter was born in Gilpin, KY on October 14, 1938, a son of the late Patricia Lucille (Pittman) and Ansel Tarter. He was raised in Casey County, KY and received his education at Middleburg High School. After completing school, George enlisted in the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy, he met Maxine Haslow, and they were united in marriage on February 28, 1959, in Patuxent River, Maryland. After his discharge from the Navy, they lived in Washington, DC, where he drove a streetcar. They later lived in Cincinnati, OH, for a short time, where George drove a truck, delivering supplies for a chemical company.

After a trip to Loyal, WI, to visit family, they decided to move to Loyal to raise their family. George worked at Rollohome, Randt’s Cheese Factory, and then at Felker Brothers as a welder, before hauling milk part-time for Mike Kryzanski in Thorp. He later bought a truck and part of Mike’s milk route, and started his own milk hauling business. George hauled milk for 25 years for Morning Glory Farms and, later, Foremost Dairy. After selling his milk route, he continued with Foremost Dairy, as a field rep, for 20 years.

In his spare time, George had many interests, but especially enjoyed motorcycling, working with small engines, general tinkering with machines and anything involving tires and gasoline.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Marshfield; four sons: David (Sandra) Tarter of Knapp. WI, Richard Tarter (Kristine Tarter) both of Marshfield, Patrick, (Karan) Tarter of Somerset, WI, William (Charlotte) Tarter of Edgar, WI; 11 grandchildren: Alexis, Colton, Joseph, Samuel, Emma, Derrek, Jessica, Taiyah, Calvin, Blake and Jade; one brother, David (Faye) Tarter of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Gail (Charles) Sharp of Danville, KY; one niece, Kim (Mike) Rucker; three nephews: Tim (Jane) Sharp, Jon (Kimi) Sharp, Ben (Stacey) Sharp; three great-nieces; four great-nephews; two sisters-in-law; Janet (Walter) Hoover of Loyal, and their son, Terry (Maxine) Hoover, Nancy Rybka of Tacoma, WA, and her children, Sara (Kiel) Grabenhorst and Peter Rybka; two brothers-in-law: Randy (Rachelle) Haslow of Greenwood, and their children, Paul (Stacey) Haslow, Jenell (Bob) Lewis and Jacob Haslow, Edward (Karen) Haslow of Cleveland, OH and their children, Ben (Alana) Haslow, Jason (Rachel) Haslow, and Jessica (Chris) Dlugolinski; other relatives and friends.
