Dus, Elizabeth (15 May 1928 – 30 May 1975)

Elizabeth Dus, 47, died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota on Friday, May 30, 1975.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3rd at St. Bernard’s Church, Thorp, with burial being made in New St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.

Miss Kobylarczyk majored in early childhood education.

. Terrence Keating, 101 W. Birth Street, Thorp, was among students who received doctor’s degrees at the end of the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Terrence received a doctor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering.

On Sunday, June 8, 1975 the Rev. David L. Fuller conducted his last service at the Cadott, Stanley and Thorp United Methodist Churches. He came here in June of 1958 (? Hard to read)
from Madison. On Sunday June 15 he begins preaching at Fennimore, Wisconsin, in Grant County. There he will be serving a single congregation of 650 members.

On Sunday, June 15, 1975 the Rev. Carl A Fox will come here from Norwalk, Wisconsin and begin his pastorate of these three churches. He and his wife, Agnes, will move into the Stanley parsonage on Friday, June 20th.

These changes are a part of the appointments announced by Bishop Jesse DeWitt of the Wisconsin area at a 4 day Annual Conference of Wisconsin United Methodists held at Green Lake Center June 5 – 8.

Tom Hompe from Stanley and Lucretia Paff from Thorp, also attended the sessions of this Conference as voting delegates.

The change of pastorates has been known within the congregations involved since early April, so that the transition can be smoothly completed now.

Jennifer Nolechek of Thorp will be among the record number of graduates to receive diplomas from Patricia Stevens, Career College of Milwaukee in Commencement Exercises to be held on Saturday, June 7, 1975 at Uhlein (? – hard to read) Hall of the Performing Arts Center.

Miss Nolechek is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Nolechek, 106 E. Maple Street, Thorp. She will graduate from a nine month Fashion Merchandising Course.

News: Thorp – Ladies Named to Marquette Univ. Council (Jun 1975)

Two Thorp women have been named to the newly formed Women’s Council of Marquette University.

They are Mrs. Francis J. Conway, 206 North Thorp, and Mrs. Emil E. Kostner, 601 South Washington.

Sixty three prominent women from the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin and other U.S. cities have accepted charter membership in the council.

The bride is a 1975 graduate of Gilman High School and is presently employed at ITT Life of Thorp. The groom, a 1972 graduate of Gilman High School, is presently employed at Packerland, Chippewa Falls, and serves as an active member in the National Guard.

The wedding will take place September 27, 1975 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lublin.
