Herman, Jeanne (30 August 1930 - 17 May 2014)

Jeanne Herman, 83, of Thorp, WI, passes away at the Clark County Health Care Center on May 17, 2014. She was born on August 30, 1930, in Thorp, the youngest of nine children of Charles and Gertrude (Bogumill) Herman.

Jeanne graduated from Thorp High School in 1948 and attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1954. She later attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned a master’s degree. She was employed for a time at the northern Center in Chippewa Falls, WI, doing recreational activities with residents. Later on, she taught physical education at the college level in Minnesota and at the high school level in Wisconsin.

Jeanne is survived by her sister, Theresa (Teddy) Pease of Thorp; brother, Gerald (Rosemary) Herman of Janesville, WI; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: John, Rosella, Marie, Louise, Edna Mae and Robert.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Thorp.
