Schueller, George J. (26 JAN 1925 - 30 MAY 2014)

George J. Schueller, 89, Edgar, died peacefully Friday, May 30, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

He was born January 26, 1925, in Milan, son of the late Louis and Clara (Braun) Schueller. George graduated from Edgar High School in 1942. On October 6, 1948, he married Dolores Skrzypcak at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel.

He was a co-owner with his brother, Victor, of a school bus company for the Edgar School District. He worked in construction as a foreman for L.H. Schueller and Sons for 20 years. George and Victor bought L.H. Schueller and Sons, changing the name to Schueller Company, Inc. and started a lumber yard. He retired in 1987. He served the community as the village constable and was also the Edgar Village Assessor. He was a volunteer fireman for the Edgar Fire Department for 28 years, serving as assistant fire chief for 15 years. He organized the Edgar Homecoming parade for many years. He was the treasurer for the Edgar Boy Scouts for 12 years.
George was involved in the Edgar Parks Commission, in charge of the construction of the playground at the Minnow Ponds Park. As a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic parish, he belonged to the Holy Name Society, was an usher and a choir member, president of St. John School Board, and chairman of the building committee for the church addition.

George enjoyed sports from playing baseball and softball, as well as watching his children and grandchildren play high school sports. His family knew he could fix practically anything. He enjoyed the challenge of taking something apart that did not work, and making it work again.
George enjoyed woodworking, gardening, doing Sudoku puzzles, and watching the Packers and Brewers. Grandpa George loved making the annual Christmas Eve celebration memorable for his family - decorating the house and creating a unique Christmas village every year.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores, Edgar; children, Ken (fiancé Wendy Jones) Schueller, Wausau, Kristine (Joe) Borchardt, Edgar, Carol (Wally) Jansen, Marathon, Linda (Jerry) Mroczenski, Sue (Del) Ballerstein, John Schueller, Donna (Brian) Bargender, all of Edgar, JoAnn (John) Schweitzer, Green Bay, Angie (Mike) Hartnady, Edgar, Paul (Robyn) Schueller, Stratford, Cindy (Jason) Hepfler, Hudson, and Todd (Jennifer) Schueller, Wausau; son-in-law, Dennis Borchardt, Woodbury, MN; 35 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Oliver (Helen) Schueller, Dorothy Schueller, Agnes Adamski, Jeannie (Toby) Heidmann, and Butch (Sandy) Schueller; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Borchardt; and siblings, Alois and Victor Schueller, Marie Krause and infant brother Sylvarius Schueller.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Robert Streveler presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Friends called Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar, and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. There was a parish rosary service on Tuesday evening at the church.

In lieu of flowers, George’s family requests memorials be sent to St. John the Baptist Catholic School or Church. George was devoted to his wife, family, church and community. His wife, children and grandchildren will remember him for his strength, patience, guidance and love. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, was in charge of arrangements.
