Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gumz celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday evening at Trianon Ballroom with about 250 in attendance for the dance and open house.

The following original attendants were present: Mrs. Donald Schiebe, Stetsonville, Leonard Gumz, Colby, Mrs. Janet Fink, Colby, and Fred Gumz, Medford.

A cake decorated for the occasion was presented by their five children who are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gumz and family, Mrs. (Loretta) Ervin Hackel, Judy, Jim and Dale.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Geiger, Colby, and Mrs. Edward Radue, Neillsville. Great-grandmother is Mrs. Elsie Hinkelman, Loyal, and great-great grandfather is John Pollock, Colby.

She joins one brother and two sisters.

A wedding reception was held Saturday night at the Colby City Hall in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beyerl, Clara City, Minnesota, who were married April 15, 1977 in Clara City. The evening was spent dancing with music by Lawrence Hopfensperger.

Guests were from Clara City, Minnesota, River Falls, Curtis, Laona, New Holstein, Milwaukee, New Berlin, Chicago, Marshfield, Spencer, Loyal, Dorchester, Stratford, Wausau, Edgar, Colby, Abbotsford, and Unity.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Beyerl, Colby.

Nancy Tauchen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Tauchen, Route 1, Dorchester, a freshman majoring in accounting, won first place in economics during the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire’s Phi Beta Lambda Chapter State PBL, state Championship held at the UW-Whitewater recently.

Miss Tauchen will have the opportunity to compete in the National FBLA – PBL Conference in Denver Colorado in July.

Marine Pvt. First Class Thomas T. Schoelzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle J. Schoelzel, Route 2, Colby, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

During the 11-week training cycle, he learned the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment, and studied personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Maries.

He participated in an active physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle marksmanship, and close order drill. Team work and self-discipline were emphasized throughout the training cycle.

A 1976 graduate of Colby High School, he joined the Marine Corps in December 1976.

Donna Jean became engaged to Craig R. Marvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Marvin, Sun Prairie.

Miss Lamont is a graduate of Colby High School and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. For the past two years she has been a pre-school director in Aspen, Colorado.

Her fiancé’ is a graduate of Sun Prairie High School and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. He is presently employed as a computer programmer at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Milwaukee.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, will be the scene of the June 4, 1977 wedding.

A July 23, 1977 wedding has been set by Margaret R. Lamont and Dr. Daniel R. Schield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Schield, Neillsville

She is a graduate of Colby High School and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. She is employed as a speech clinician in the Greenwood Public School System.

Dr. Schield is a graduate of the Marquette University, Milwaukee. He is an associate in the Neillsville Dental Clinic.
