Voigt, Gustave (31 Jan 1884 - 17 Feb 1968)

Gustave H. Voigt, 84, Loyal, died at Memorial Hospital, Saturday, February 17 at 6 a.m. Death was due to complications.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. A. M. Molderhauer officiated and burial was made in the Loyal cemetery. The Myre Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Gerald Lucht, Raymond Oestreich, Earl and Arthur Voigt, Alphonse Dietche and Gerhard Riedel.

Mrs. Verland and Ervin Dux, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. John A. Olsen, sang "Rock of Ages."

Mr. Voigt was born January 31, 1884 in Calument County, September 28, 1911 he married Elizabeth Lucht at Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal.

As a young man he came to the Lindsey area. He worked as a cheesemaker for many years in various factories. For a time he lived in Loyal and served as village president. In 1929 he moved to a farm in the town of Sherman where he lived until his death. He was assessor of the town of Sherman for a time and served on the School Board of the Taft School. He also was past president of the R.E.A. and served on its board of directors. At one time he was a candidate for the State Assembly. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran and served on its Church Counsil.

Besides his wife (Elizabeth Maria Lucht) he is survived by 2 sons, James, Loyal; and Alan, Neillsville; a daughter, Mrs. Otto (Sophie) Klemme, Stratford; and a brother Adolph, Dousman.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
