Schoenherr, Lorraine O. (23 April 1920 - 11 April 2014)

Lorraine Schoenherr, 93, completed her earthly journey April 11, 2014.

Lorraine was born April 23, 1920, to Herman and Hattie (Klueckman) Schoenherr. She began her elementary teaching career teaching in several central Wisconsin rural one-room schools, teaching from four to eight grade levels. She relocated to the Brookfield area where she was assigned to teach first-graders at Brookfield Elementary. She found great joy teaching first-graders to read. She retired from Brookfield Elementary June 1985. She continued to help first graders read by volunteering as a tutor for 17 years in her friend Kathy’s first-grade classroom. Lorraine received many awards for her excellence in teaching. For 25 years, Lorraine lived in a rural setting that permitted her to plant vegetable gardens, but her true love was planting and tending to flowers.

Lorraine was an exceptional baker, but cookies were her specialty. Cookie baking at Christmastime was her way of celebrating by gifting cookies to many friends. Lorraine was a very special person in so many ways, always kind, gentle and generous. She had many special friends who cared deeply for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Henrietta, Vivian and Victoria; three brothers, Herman, Jerry and Victor; and nephew Gary.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Globe Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor John Warmuth presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allay Hospice 325 Corporate Dr, Brookfield, WI 53045.

Online condolences can be made at www.harderfuneralhome.com  or phone 262-781-8350

Harder Funeral Home of Brookfield is serving the family.
