She worked in factories in Sparta, La Crosse and Madison, and she did housekeeping in Minneapolis and at the Holiday Inn, Stevens Point. Suby was a avid bingo player, and she enjoyed weaving baskets.

Surviving are her three sons: Larry (Sadie) Garvin and Elliott Garvin, both of Black River Falls, and Cecil (Renate) Garvin, Madison; one brother, Leslie (Sandy) Pettibone, Portage; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Virgil and Gavin Pettibone; and four sisters, Annie Lone Tree, Edith Thundercloud, Genevieve Pettibone and Catherine Smoke.
