Shefchik, Hildegard * (8 July 1913 - 15 September 1971)

*Obituary shows this name as Shefehik, but cemetery records show it as Shefchik.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emil (Hildegard) Shefchik, 58, of Loyal, who died September 15, at her home, were held Saturday, September 18, at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Loyal. The Rev. Norbert E. King officiated and burial was made in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. A P.C.C.W. rosary service Friday afternoon and a general rosary service Friday evening were held at the Roycraft Funeral Home where the body of Mrs. Shefchik was in state.

Mrs. Shefchik, the former Hildegard Renz, was born July 8, 1913, in Stacyville, Ia. She moved to Loyal as a child with her parents. Her marriage to Emil Shefchik took place November 27, 1928, in Loyal. The couple farmed in the Town of beaver until a year ago when they moved to the city of Loyal. Mrs. Shefchik was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and of its Altar Society.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother, Mrs. Emma Renz of Watertown; six sons, Lawrence of Yermo, Calif., Edward of Milwaukee, Richard of Marshfield, Elmer and Raymond of Kenosha, and Emil, Jr., stationed with the Marine Corps at San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Eleanor) Welch of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Arthur (Angeline) Gregory for Granton, and twins, Mrs. Larry (Jean) Menehan and Mrs. Larry (Joan) Kornack, both of Racine; and 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by six brothers, Ernest Renz of Owen, Roman Renz of Jefferson, Urban Renz of Chicago, Ill., Herbert Renz of Fort Atkinson, William Renz of Sun Prairie, and Paul Renz of Chicago, Ill.; and by two sisters, Mrs. Helen Nehls of Watertown and Mrs. Albina Groehler of Pewaukee.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Shefchik were her six sons.
