Winkel, Debra Dawn (Marriage - 4 September 1971)

Miss Debra Dawn Winkel became the bride of Charles A. Meier Saturday evening, September 4, in a double-ring ceremony performed at Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant by the Rev. Richard Eggen. The candlelit church was filled with 150 guests.

Soloist was Miss Susan Dudei. She was accompanied by Mrs. Leland Garbisch on the organ.

Mr. and Mrs. David Winkel of Granton are the bride’s parents. The groom is the son of Charles C. Meier of Neillsville and Mrs. Dorthea Meier of Marshfield.

For her marriage, the bride chose an empire-styled gown of ruffled venise lace framed by a floor-length, lace-edged mantilla veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations as she was given in marriage by her father.

Miss Cheryl Handke was the maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Jane Meier and Jacky Winkel; junior bridesmaids were Irene Meier and Gina Winkel. The bridal attendants wore imported chiffon gowns with floral embroidery trim in shades of blue, chartreuse, punch, hot pink, and peacock, respectively. They carried bouquets of green carnations and baby’s breath accented with ribbons to match their gowns, and wore green carnations in their hair.

James Wedekind of Neillsville served as bestman. Groomsmen were James Zschernitz and James Dunlap of Neillsville. Guests were seated by Rocky Elmhorst and Wendell Miller.

The new Mrs. Meier is a 1971 graduate of Granton High School. Her husband, a 1970 graduate of Neillsville High School, is employed in Neillsville.
