Shortville (20 Jul 1916)

Miss Clara Frantz left Monday for a visit to Evansville, Rockford and other points.

The Ladies Aid at Mrs. Andrew Short’s was well attended.

Miss Ella Hagie of Milwaukee is here for a visit with the home folks.

The baseball team did not play Sherwood Sunday, but expect to pull off a game later. Guess the boys thought it was too warm.

Last week A. Short, Bender boys, R. Galbreath and R. Chapman went blueberrying. Chapman’s horse got loose and at this writing hasn’t been found.

Saturday night Wm. Stevens’ horse, old Lucy, dropped dead in the road.

The Winters, Wilding, Wall and Davis families and H. Carter spent Sunday evening at A. Wilding’s.

Floyd Walls had company from Alma Center Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Hitchcock of Alma Center spent last week here with relatives.

The doctor was called to see J.M. Winters last week.
