Welsh, Nettie (1 JUN 1856 – 19 Jun 1916)

Mrs. Stephen Welsh died at her home in Wishek, N.D., June 19, 1916, aged 60 years, 2 weeks and 4 days. Her death came after an illness of several weeks, which resulted indirectly from the effects of typhoid pneumonia. Mrs. Welsh was one of the pioneer residents of Clark County and has many friends in this locality who will be grieved to learn of her demise. She came to Neillsville in its earliest days and was married here to Stephen Welsh of Milwaukee. With her husband and little son and daughter she lived for a time on the farm in Lynn. Later the family moved to Pleasant Ridge and in 1896 to Redfield, S.D., where Mr. Welsh died in 1901. After his death the deceased, with her son, James, moved to Wishek, N.D., where she resided until her death. The remains were brought to Neillsville on Wednesday, June 21st, and the body laid to rest by the side of her husband.

Mrs. Welsh was a sister of the late Mrs. C.E. Walters of this city and leave to mourn her loss one son, James, of Wishek, N.D., one daughter, Mrs. H. Cooley, of Whitehall, Wis., and two brothers, David Coushing of Wilson, Wis., and John Coushing of Mercer, Pa.

Mrs. Welsh was a member of the M.E. Church and of the Rebekah and Macabee lodges. She was a true Christian, a loving wife and mother and a woman whose charitable and loving disposition made her dear to all who knew her. Her son and wife with her little grandson, and her daughter and husband and her granddaughters, Angie and Caryl Cooley, accompanied the remains to their last resting place.
