Francel, Johanna (13 MAY 1887 – 26 JUL 1952)

Mrs. Frank Francel, nee Johanna Kozar, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kozar, was born in Yugoslavia on May 13, 1887. She came to the United States with her parents at an early age and settle in Ely, Minn.

On Jan. 8, 1903 she was married to Frank Francel at Ely, Minn. In 910 they came to the Town of Hendren (Clark Co., Wis.), where they purchased a farm 7 miles southwest of Willard. They were among the earliest settlers of this area.

To this union were born four sons, Frank, Marshfield; Joseph, Augusta; ; John, at home; and Paul, who is stationed with the air force in Texas; eight daughter, Mrs. Hannah Kokaly, Willard; Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Schnaitmann, Evanston, Ill.; Mrs. Lambert (Mary) Butzen, Chicago; Mrs. Ignatz (Frances) Koschak, Greenwood; Mrs. Cyril (Theresa) Kranic and Mrs. Tony (Pauline) Hribar, Chicago; Mrs. Ludwig (Josephine Koschak), Jacksonville, Fla.; and Mrs. Frank (Hedwig) Klinke, Greenwood.

Mrs. Francel passed away suddenly at her farm home on Saturday, July 26, 1952, having reached the age of 65 years, 2 months and 13 days.

A requiem mass was read on Wednesday, July 30th at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Father Augustine Svete officiated. She was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery at Willard.

The pallbearers were John Pernic, Tony Prebil, John Pernic, Ludwig Perushek, Joe Tolaney and Frank Laken.

She is survived by the above named children, 23 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ramrot, Yugoslavia; Mrs. Louis Perushek, Ely, Minn.; and a brother, Tony Kozar, Ely, Minn.

All of her children and families were here for the funeral. Others from away were Mrs. Louis Perushek and Tony Kozar, Ely, Minn.; Mrs. Vincent Lacer, Aurora, Minn., and Mrs. Otto Feier, Evanston, Ill.
