Gerstberger, Elsie C. (Kretschmer) (6 NOV 1923 - 16 DEC 2013)

Elsie C. Gerstberger, 90, Rib Lake, died on Monday, Dec. 16 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake, where she had resided the past year. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, with Rev. James Heffner officiating.

Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers are Bob Anderson, Rick Cardey, Larry Ziembo, and Rick, Taran and Michael Dohrwardt.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Elsie Kretschmer was born on April 8, 1923 in the Town of Goodrich to the late William and Bertha Kretschmer. She attended Town of Goodrich elementary schools.

On June 27, 1942 in Rib Lake, she married Elmer J. Gerstberger, who survives. They farmed in the Town of Rib Lake, and and while farming she also worked at Gem Products Shoe Factory in Rib Lake for many years until retirement.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening and her family.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two children, John (Patricia) Gerstberger of Rib Lake and Janice Olson of Waukesha; a sister, Rose; three grandchildren, Mary and Julie Gerstberger and Connie (Warren) Wisniewski; and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Kretschmer and a sister, Adeline Fehrman.
