Thums, Frank C. (1 MAR 1937 - 22 NOV 2013)

Frank C. Thums, 76, Town of Medford, died surrounded by his family on Friday, Nov. 22 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, where he had resided the past two days, while under hospice care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.

Interment will at St. Ann's Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. Pallbearers are Karen Dums, Roger Bube, Henry "Bobby" Kosek, Karl Sherfield, Quintin Denzine and Ian Davison.

Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 6:45 p.m. Rosary service, and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Frank Thums was born on March 1, 1937 in the Town of Greenwood to the late John and Theresa E. (Haider) Thums. He attended Highland Grade School in the Town of Greenwood.

On October 15, 1966 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Jean M. Sigmund, who survives. He did logging then owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Medford until his retirement in May 2013. He was also did mechanic and carpentry work.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors and most of all being a grandpa.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Betty (Frank) Wrege of Marshfield, Katie (Dan) Krause of Dorchester, and Jerome Thums and Laura (Brian) Gallistel, both of Medford; three siblings, Oliver (Mona) Thums of Isabella, Minn., and Theresa (Charles) Bube and Mary (Loren) Sherfield, both of Rib Lake; four grandchildren, Sam, Bailey, Jack and Olivia Krause; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Louis, John, Harold, Arthur, Harry, Ferdinand, Max and Norman Thums, and a sister, Agnes Kosek.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family to be designated at a later date.
