Kolpanen, Wayne (14 JUN 1903 – 16 MAR 1979)

Services were conducted at Immanuel United Church of Christ at 11 a.m., Monday, March 19 for Wayne Kolpanen, 75 of 201 Dolf St., Colby.
Mr. Kolpanen died at 8 a.m., Friday, March 16 at his home at Colby.

Officiating at the service were Reverend Kenneth Dix and Reverend Larry Davis. Mrs. Margaret Schwarze was the organist, and the congregation sang.
Interment was in the Westside Cemetery.

Wayne Kolpanen was born in Finland on June 14, 1903 to John and Hannah (Koski) Kolpanen.

He moved to Owen in 1912 with his parents and received his education at Owen Area Schools.

He married Alma Meinholdt in Wauwatosa on August 22, 1936.

He retired in 1969 and moved to Colby in 1977.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Milwaukee, a member of the Oil Gear Retiree Club, officer of Church Brotherhood for many years and a member of the Church Council for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife, Alma; four brothers, Uno of Owen, Roy of Milwaukee, Reins of Golden, Colorado, and William of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Elizabeth Himes of Owen.

Serving as pallbearers were Leonard Himes, Eugene Himes, Dr. John Kolpanen, Jerome Kolpanen, Theodore Meinholdt and Mark Fravert. Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
